Madder
Madder
Made with lambswool from a mill in Scotland and hand dyed with natural plant colour, this super soft blanket is knitted entirely on a domestic knitting machine in my studio in the South Downs National Park. Totally unique, no two will ever be the same.
Knitted in beautiful striped panels of rusty reds, corals, soft blues, and muted ochres contrasted with subtle neutrals in fawns and cream. The colours have been achieved using madder, weld, cutch, buckthorn bark, cochineal and dyers alkanet.
This blanket would be ideal as a lap, or generous baby blanket measuring approximately 130cm x 90cm
On this blanket there are a few spots of iron modifier that aren’t visible in the flat lay photo so I have added an additional shot (see last photo) to show these markings close up. These blankets are priced to reflect the fact they are my first attempts at natural dyeing and as such there are imperfections.
Please note that due to the hand dyed nature of the yarn there will be some variation and depth to the knitted blocks of colour.
Handwash carefully and only when really needed - dry away from light and heat sources. When not in use it should be stored carefully away from direct sunlight.
